Chengde, is the summer camp of the Qing Emperors in olden daya. This is one day trip from Beijing. There are several palaces, pavilions and pagodas. This place was also hunting park, entertainment area and kind of training camp area for military skills during the period of Qing Empire.The design of Resort was done between 1703 and 1794.This resort was host of various diplomatic functions. Some of the buildings are plain and less decorated and some are elegant buildings are available. The resort does comprise of old, new and luxury buildings, which shows that Emperors did not want to forget their roots.
In 1794 Britain’s Lord Macartney met Qiánlóng emperor at this Chengde and was impressed by the resort’s layout. The 18th-century version of a "Splendid China" theme park is been seen in Florida and Shenzhèn now.
The modernization of late is bringing new buildings around this place. A huge market fills in this place and even Steam Train goes through this Market.
