Wheat lifting season begins at Punjab and Haryana


Chandigarh: Many private traders were buying wheat crop in Punjab on first day of wheat lifting season. They bought almost 37 Metric Tonne of  crop in the price range of Rs.1010 -1085 per quintal. In contrast state owned agency bought only 5 MT.

"Out of total arrival of 42 MT of wheat in Ropar and Ludhiana, traders bought 37 MT and rest was bought by state agency PUNSUP," an official of Punjab Food and Civil Supply department said.
Total arrival wheat  this time is  2621 MT. From this  state agencies and  FCI bought 2536 MT of wheat . The remaining was bought by traders, an official said.
The following list describes the  who procured how much in Million Tonnes

  • Haryana Food and Civil Supply Department - 350 MT
  • Hafed -1181 MT
  • FCI  -465 MT
  • Confed -540 MT,
This year Punjab is expecting buy around 115 lack MT of wheat against 105 lakh MT. Haryana is expecting buy around 55 lakh MT of wheat this season (last year 52.37 lackh MT)
